I grew up down the street from the Matthews Family on Crestmont Road. My brother Nick started bringing me over to the Matthews’ house and loft before I was in Kindergarten and I met my bestest buddy Nonie. Spending so much time with Mrs.Matthews was a blessing. She was always so nice and kind and welcoming. She always greeted everyone with a smile and asked how everyone was doing. We traveled in a gaggle of girls and Mrs.Matthews did her best to try to refine our gang. She tried to teach us how to knit, how to have a tea and in general kept us occupied and out of our usual mischief. She never made us feel bad when we did occasionally get in trouble.
I had the enormous gift of spending time with her recently and marveled at how she still was the happy, beautiful , caring person she was all those years ago. The tremendous amount of tragedy and loss she’s had to bear did not dent her radiant spirit.
I feel so blessed she was such a big part of my life.
My deepest Sympathy to Nonie,Tootsie and all The Matthews Family and to all those who knew her and loved her.

To the Matthews/Haley family.
My condolences to you. Your Mother was an amazing neighbor. She was always smiling,. She was the kind and compassionate neighbor next door, who always opened her home to us.
May she have eternal peace.

Q: What will you never forget about Kathleen?
A: Kay opened her home up
To us when our sister was in the hospital. She made sure we had a place to sleep and rest.
Always had tea and cookies for us when we came home from the hospital after spending the day with our sister.
I will always remember her kindness.
