Mathis, William A. Binghamton: William A. Mathis, 66, of Binghamton, peacefully entered into Eternal Rest Sunday, September 18, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Georgia Shepler Mathis and Andrew J. Mathis; his in-laws, Joseph J. McCormack and Rosemary McCormack Burke; and a sister-in-law, Colleen T. McCormack. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Peg Mathis, Binghamton; his children, Missy and Marty Hanlon, Syracuse, Andrea Mathis, Colleen Mathis and Fred Morabito, Ty and Kelly Mathis, all of Binghamton; his grandchildren, Rosemary and Elinor Hanlon, Caelen and Liam Mathis; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who were like his own siblings, Roseann and Dennis O'Shea, Joette Auerbach; nieces and nephews, Shannon, Sarah, Ben and Brian. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy, Class of 1963, and a graduate of Broome Community College and a US Army veteran. Bill was a kind, hard-working family man who would sacrifice anything for his children and grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bill may be made to Flood Victims Assistance, c/o Catholic Charities of Broome County, 232 Main St., Binghamton, NY 13905 or Seton Catholic Central High School Tuition Assistance, 70 Seminary Ave., Binghamton, NY 13905.
