Obituary of Mary J. Zdrodowski

Zdrodowski, Mary Jane Binghamton: Mary Jane Zdrodowski, 93, formerly of Clinton Township, MI, passed away August 25 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Binghamton, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 11 a.m. on September 10 at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church in Clinton Township. Mary was born on October 20, 1917 in Detroit. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; and her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Steve Howard; her parents, Mary and Stephen Borek; and her twin sister, Josephine Lark. Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Stevenson of Austin, TX and daughter, Sharon Bryden and husband Jim of Binghamton; and sister, Alfreda Polan of Michigan. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mary devoted her life to serving others; she volunteered for many organizations and received the Macomb County Outstanding Volunteer Award for 1500 hours of service. Additionally, she served the inner city Detroit community by teaching sewing and calligraphy to underprivileged girls for 40 consecutive summers. She also worked tirelessly for 17 years for Literacy Volunteers, helping Polish immigrants gain citizenship. Mary was also involved in countless church leadership roles during her lifetime. Her warm smile and loving words of encouragement will be missed by her family and many friends.
