Anthony, George A., Sr. Binghamton: George A. Anthony, Sr., 82, of Binghamton, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 4, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary Anthony; his sister, Juliana Jacobson; his brother, Dr. Paul and Patricia Anthony; his granddaughter, Stephanie Anthony; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Therese Murphy Anthony; his children, Ellen and Dan Correll, Eileen and Michael Smalt, Pat and Jack Gleichauf, George Anthony Jr., Michael and Cindy Anthony, Mark and Audra Anthony; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sophie and Robert Gosney; his brother, Andrew and Sharon Anthony; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean Ramsey, Marilyn and Lou Hudy, Jeanne Murphy, Arlene and Tom Longcoy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and customers. George was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, and a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy. He was the proprietor of George A. Anthony Service, Inc. for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Binghamton Elks B.P.O.E. #70 and an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan. He loved the game of golf and played it well. His greatest joy of his life was his wife and family and he had a great bond with his grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of George may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 9 Leroy St., Binghamton, NY 13905 or the American Cancer Society , 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.
