Joseph A. Griffin, 56, of Kirkwood went peacefully into the arms of the Lord surrounded by his family and friends Friday afternoon, August 1, 2003. He was predeceased by his father, Neil Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Fiorini Griffin, Kirkwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Tracey Griffin, Endwell; a daughter, Jessica Griffin and Dan Williams, Binghamton; a granddaughter, Madeline Griffin; his mother, Madeline Griffin, Kirkwood; brothers and sisters, Michael and Joan Griffin, Windsor, Thomas and Mary Griffin, Kirkwood, Linda Griffin Cahill and James Cahill, Endwell, Tonetta and Norman Wallen, Kirkwood, Patricia Griffin, Kirkwood; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Mary Fiorini, Binghamton; sisters-in-law, Barbara and James Sherman, Albany, Bonnie Jones, Binghamton; several nieces, nephews, and many good friends. Joe was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton; retired 30 year employee of the IBM Corporation and for the past nine years was with Broome County Government Security, currently as Assistant Director. Since 1979, Joe was supervisor for the Town of Kirkwood. He was a member of New York State Association of Towns; Binghamton Fraternal Order of Police; Binghamton Elks B.P.O.E. #852; Kirkwood Knights of Columbus; Broome County Sportsman Club; Idependent Mutual Aid Society and the Kirkwood Democratic Club. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, corner of Court and Fayette Streets, Binghamton Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. A special thank you to all of his doctors and to the nursing staff on Seton 2E and 1 Ross.
