Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William
Henry Hoysradt III, 88, of Binghamton, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2003, at
Elizabeth Church Manor after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his
parents, William Henry and Myrtle Hoysradt; his devoted wife of 61 years,
Lillian Law Hoysradt; and his sister, Eleanor H. Lewis. He is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth H. and Filofy Rugala, of Binghamton; two
granddaughters and grandsons--in-law, Kimberly and J. David LaFontana, of
Cambridge, MA; and Kristen and Kris Kucera, of Lisbon, Maine, with the Kuceras
expecting his first great-grandchild any day; his sister, Jean H. Lewis, of
Rochester Hills, MI; several nieces and nephews; and many special and dear
friends. Bill was a legendary athlete in his day as a star football player at
Binghamton Central High School (he holds the school record for the longest
punt) and at Colgate University, and was inducted into the Section IV Hall of
Fame. He continued athletic pursuits throughout his life, ranging from church
softball, to many bowling leagues, to thousands of rounds of golf (most of which
at his beloved Binghamton Country Club), including once winning the pro-am at
the B.C. Open. He was also an avid life-long fan of the New York Yankees and
New York Giants and an Army Veteran of WWII. Active in the church, Bill
belonged to Main Street Baptist, and later the First Congregational Church of
Binghamton. He served his country in the Army as an athletic instructor, both
in Connecticut and in the Pacific theater, during World War II. After the war,
Bill had a long and successful career as a salesman, first at Maines Foods, and
later at Miller Dodge and Scoville Ford. His sales skills earned him numerous
sales awards and trips during his partnership with Lloyd Scoville.
The family will receive friends at
