Gerald
T. Hastings, 98, of Kirkwood, died Wednesday afternoon, February 5, 2003, at
the Rivermede Health Care Center. He was predeceased by his parents, George and
Nora Haggerty Hastings; four brothers, Edward, George, Michael and William; his
wife, Margaret J. (Callan) Hastings, 1965; his children, Donald, 2002, Gerald
(Pat), 1993, Margaret (Penny) Winchell, 1982, Frank, 1999; two grandchildren,
Edward C. Prentice III, 1968, Margaret (Peggy Prentice) Aaron, 2002; two
great-grandchildren, Beth Ann Winchell, 1993 and Thomas Douglas Castro, 2001.
He is survived by his children, Tom and Jeanette Hastings, Binghamton, Jane and
John West, Windsor, Katie and Bob DuVall, Columbus, Ohio, Evie and Pete Contro,
Windsor, Mike and Judy Hastings, Oneonta, Linda and Ed Prentice, Haines City,
Fla., Patty and Tom Lee, Windsor; daughters-in-law, Sara Hastings, Ruby
Hastings, Binghamton, Kathy Hastings, Endicott; son-in-law, Jack Winchell,
Windsor; 36 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 17
great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member
of St. Mary's Church, Kirkwood. He retired from Robert E. Foley Construction
Co., and the oldest member of local IBEW, 1249, Syracuse.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary's Church, Rt. 11, Kirkwood, Saturday
at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will
receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St.,
Binghamton, Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of
Gerald may be made to W. Windsor Fire Co., Carla Dr., Windsor, N.Y. 13865, or
St. Mary's Church Restoration Fund, 975 N.Y. Rt. 11, Kirkwood, N.Y. 13795.
