Obituary of Martha J. Cooney

Martha
J. Cooney, 85, of Vestal, died Friday afternoon, January 3, 2003, at Our Lady
Of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Cooney; her
son, Paul L. Cooney; and a brother, Roland Race. She is survived by a daughter
and son-in-law, Patrice and Peter Kofira, Endwell; her son, Francis Cooney and
Cheryl Button, Pt. Crane; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Breanne Cooney; her
aunt, Ruth Canfield; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Kincer and Mary Pat Race Lee;
several nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church,
Binghamton, and a retired 30 year employee of Broome County Department of
Social Services. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Vestal
Nursing Center, including Emily, Kathy Davese, Jennifer; and special friends,
Juanita Luddington, Diane Koch, Madeline Cafrio, Virginia Wales, Mae Mitchell,
Philadelphia, Pa., Eileen Lukes and Kathy Mealy. She will be greatly missed by
all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main
St., Binghamton Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m., and at 10 a.m., at St. Andrew's
Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack
Funeral Home Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of
Martha may be made to St. Andrew's Church, 356 Conklin Ave., Binghamton, N.Y.
