Dorothy
Joggerst Ingalls, 88, of Bingamton, died Saturday morning, May 26, 2001 at her
home. She was the daughter of the late Ben L. and Margaret Ryan Joggerst and
was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, George L. Ingalls on April 10, 2001
and predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert B. and Ruth Joggerst.
Mrs. Ingalls is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Ingalls VanDine
and Robert W. VanDine, Binghamton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan W.
and Jane Ingalls, Chevy Chase, Md., John S. and Kate Ingalls, Rancho Santa Fe,
Calif., Robert G. Ingalls, Binghamton; her grandchildren, Ryan and Georgia
Ingalls, John and Caroline Ingalls,Lennea, Robert, Dorothy and Ellen VanDine;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church,
Binghamton. She was a lifelong resident of Binghamton and graduated from
Skidmore College in 1935 and was a past president and a Golden Member of the
Monday Afternoon Club. She was an emeritus member of the Junio League of
Binghamton and a member of both the Binghamton Club and the Binghamton Country
Club. In 1923, when she was 10 years old, Dorothy Margaret Joggerst traveled to
New York City to pose for a photo with George F. Johnson. It was from this
photo that sculptor Charles Keck made the bronze Jonson Monument that is in
Recreation Park. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons
Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Tuesday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. St.
Patrick's Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at the convenience of the family. The family
will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. In
lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Dorothy may be made to
the Phelps Mansion Foundation, c/o Monday Afternoon Club, 191 Court St.,
Binghamton, N.Y. 13901 or the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes
Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905 or a charity of one's
choice.
