Obituary of Richard E. Wood

Richard E. Wood, Sr., 79, of Vestal, passed away Friday morning, June 15, 2001, at the Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Wood, his brother, Norman, and grandson, Daniel J. Wood. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ethel Micha Wood, Vestal; two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Wood, Jr., Longmont, Colo., Daniel and Julie Wood, Derry, N.H.; two daughters and son-in-law, Diane Wood, Endwell, Allison and Anthony Lupo, Columbia, Mo.; four grandsons, Rick, David, Timothy Michael Wood, David Martin Wood; three granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth, Grace Ann and Katie Ethel Lupo; his brother, Myles Wood, Vestal; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of John Hus Presbyterian Church, Binghamton; graduate of Binghamton North High School, and The University of Notre Dame. He served in the Naval Air Corps. during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 89. Dick retired from the IBM Corporation after 33 years of service and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. Funeral services will be held at John Hus Presbyterian Church, 47 Glenwood Avenue, Binghamton, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Edmund Hoener, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at theJ.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Dick may be made to Broome-Tioga ARC, 901 Front Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905 or John Hus Presbyterian Church, 47 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
