Vasili
Papastrat, 93, of Binghamton, died Wednesday afternoon, August 8, 2001, at Our
Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Maria
Papastrat; five daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and George Anastos, Pat and
Chris Anagnostakos, Voula and Lou Diamantakos, Jean and Dino Alikakos, Stacey
and Pete Dikeakos, all of Binghamton; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and
Georgia Papastrat, Chris and Crystal Papastrat, all of Binghamton; 20
grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in Gouranos,
Sparta, Greece. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church,
Binghamton; retired employee of the Endicott-Johnson Corp. He was an avid
gardener and grew the best tomatoes and roses in the Triple Cities. Funeral
services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 214 Court St.,
Binghamton, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. George A. Prassas, Pastor, will
officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will
receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton,
Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Trisagion Service will be Friday evening
at 8:30 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Papastrat may be made to
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 214 Court St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.
