Richard M. Hill, 68, of Binghamton, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 16, 2005, in Ireland, fox hunting, what he loved to do best with John Lang and Garland McCoy. He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Crawford Hill; and his parents, Richard and Frances Hill. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Perrot, Barrington, Mass., Kerrington Hill and Garland T. McCoy, Arlington, Va., Courtney Hill and Devon Fuller, S. Hadley, Mass.; four granddaughters, M.A. Quinn McCoy, Katherine Frances McCoy, Madeline Dean Fuller, Chloe May Fuller; two brothers, Clark E. Hill, Stocton, Calif., David M. and Cynthia Hill, Wayland, Mass.; his very dear friend and companion, Terry Ryan, Binghamton. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, Binghamton. Rick graduated from Belmont Hill Prep School, Haverford College, and received his Law Degree from Cornell University. Mr. Hill had been an Adjunct Professor of Law with the School of Management at Binghamton University since 1973. He was elected to the Broome Co. Legislature in 1964, and served until 1972. He was a member of the Broome County and New York State Bar Associations, and a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Assoc. Mr. Hill's list of community board involvement is extensive and shows years of continuing service to this community. Among the organizations he has served are the Binghamton Boy's Club, Broome County Mental Health Board, Broome Co. Social Planning Council, Binghamton Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow, Roberson Center for Arts and Sciences, Harpur Forum and Cherry Valley Carriage Association. He was a member of the American Legion National Red Cross, member of the Ski Patrol at Greek Peak for 40 years, member of the Limestone Creek Hunt Joint Master of Foxhounds, and a member of the United States Power Squadron. Rick was a partner in the law firm of Pope, Schrader and Murphy. Funeral services will be held at the Main Street Baptist Church, corner of Main and Chestnut Streets, Binghamton, Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. Timothy R. Bennett, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Rick may be made to Limestone Creek Hunt Kennel Fund, c/o McCormack Funeral Home.
