William
F. Thomas, Sr., 78, of Binghamton, died Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2001 at
Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his
parents, George R. and Marion Thomas; and a brother, George R. Thomas, Jr. He
is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Lake Thomas, Binghamton;
five sons and daughters-in-law, William F. and Melita Thomas, Pflugerville,
Tex., Daniel L. and Marie Thomas, Binghamton, Douglas M. Thomas, Johnson City,
Christopher M. and Teresa Thomas, Orlando, Fla., Gregory and Kimberly Thomas,
Johnson City; ten grandchildren, Sandi, Brian, Brett, Marcia, Lisa, Lori,
Susan, Makenzie, Kristen, Michelene; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his
faithful companion, "BJ". Bill was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas
Church, Binghamton and the Holy Name Society. He was a retired Lieutenant with
the Binghamton Fire Department, retiring after 39 years of service. He was an
Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and a member of American Legion Post 80 and the
Broome County Retired Policeman's and Fireman's Association. Funeral services
will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton,
Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where a
Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bill, may be made to
the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr.,
Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
