John P. (Jack) Shea, 80, of 31 Vine Street, Binghamton, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 9, 2000 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Marie Phalen Shea; his children, Marilyn Bailey, Michael Shea, John and Susan Shea, Robert and Mary Shea; his grandchildren, Joseph Bailey and fiancee, Nicole Novak, Laura Bailey, Katie, Emily, John, Brian and Molly Shea; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Shea; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Josephine and Robert Green, Sr.; several nieces, nephews, and many close and loyal friends. Jack was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton, a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy, and served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. For many years, Jack and his family owned and operated the White Star Market on Binghamton's South Side. He was an avid L.A. Dodgers and Notre Dame football fan. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jonathan Kloss, the staff of the Medical Oncology Department, Marlene West and Linda Kelly of Hospice for your constant care, concern and compassion. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. John the Evangelist Church, corner of Vestal Avenue and Livingston Street, Binghamton, Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jack may be made to the Medical Oncology Department of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
