Helen R. (Sweeney) Lee, 89, of St. Joseph, Pa. died Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at her home. She was predeceased by her parents, John J. and Elizabeth (ODay) Sweeney and by her husband, Edward F. Lee, in 1948. She was the last surviving sibling of her family, being predeceased by her six sisters and two brothers. A dedicated wife, mother and devoted Mum, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Anne J. Lee, St. Joseph, Pa and Lucy and Paul McCarthy, Endicott; and two granddaughters, Molly A. McCarthy and Kathleen E. McCarthy and her fianc, Kevin C. McCarthy. She was a member of St. Josephs Church, St. Joseph, Pa. and a Past President of its altar rosary society and Legion of Mary. She was a 1933 graduate of St. Patricks Academy, Binghamton; retired proprietor of Lees Atlantic, St. Joseph, Pa.; retired Tax Collector for Choconut Township, Pa.; Past President of the Susquehanna County Democrat Womens Club and a former member of the Womens Auxiliary VFW Post 5642 and Susquehanna County Literacy Council. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Saturday at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at St. Josephs Church, St. Joseph, Pa. where a funeral mass will be offered. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests any memorial contributions in Helens name be made through the donation of a book to Choconut Valley Elementary School or a donation Susquehanna County Literacy Council, Lathrop Ave., Montrose, Pa.
