Obituary of Robert L. Wilkins
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our dear and beloved husband, father,
grandfather, Robert L. Wilkins, 48, unexpectedly began his heavenly journey on
Saturday, July 20, 2002. He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly L. Wilkins
on June 28, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Mary K.
(Gibbons) Wilkins. He was a devoted and loving father to his children who were
his pride and joy, Corey M. Wilkins and girlfriend Michelle Esworthy,
Binghamton, and April L. Wilkins and boyfriend Nathaniel Anthony, Binghamton.
He treasured and loved his most precious granddaughter, Caitlin Arianna
Anthony, more than life itself. She was her grandpa's little
"punkin". Her tiny fingers were wrapped around her grandpa's heart
from the very moment she was born. Bob is also survived by his father, Lynn F.
Wilkins, York, Pa.; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and Fran
Martinick, York, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Carol L. Gibbons, Binghamton; and his
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert W. and Dawn Gibbons, N. Scituate,
R.I.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Bob was
also blessed with many, many wonderful friends and co-workers who loved him and
will miss him dearly. Chopper was employed as a yard man at Greene's ACE Home
Center in Whitney Point, which is where he passed away. He enjoyed golf,
hunting, pool, antique cars, drag racing, NASCAR and was a Harley-Davidson
fanatic. He also was an avid Giants fan. He loved animals and leaves behind his
dogs, Sultan and Mollie, Nick the parrot and his cockatiel, "Harley".
He enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. He will be sorely and deeply
missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob would not want anyone to be mired
down in grief over his passing. He'd want you to "pop a cold one" in
his memory, and talk and laugh about the great times you've had together. Remember
him with love and kindness and don't ever let his memory fade. Cherish your
loved ones today as they may not be here tomorrow. The family will receive
friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton,
Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial
contributions in Bob's name to a trust fund set up for his granddaughter's
future education. Contributions may be sent to any branch of the Visions
Federal Credit Union. Bob, you are my soulmate, my best friend and my only true
love. I will honor you and cherish you until the end of time. You left me way
too soon and my life will never be the same without you. Until we meet again,
rest easy my sweet. All my love, now and forever. Mary.
