Obituary of Leonard W. Jones

Leonard W. "Jonesy" Jones, 71, formerly of Binghamton, passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 at the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Leonard is survived by his three daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Allen, Jennifer Jones, Lisa and Ron Barton; two sons and daughter-in-law, Steven Jones, Terry and Bonnie-Lyn Jones; four grandchildren, Christine Allen, Teri-Lyn and Eddie Jones, Ashley Rosenberger; sister, Sally Husar; his in-law's, Lyle and Joan Fassett, Chris and Shirl DeLucia, Irene and Jerry Rounds, Levo Fassett, Jr., Lloyd Fassett; several nieces and nephews. Leonard will also be dearly missed by his good friend, Pam Merrill. Leonard was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Marines. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #693 and a retired 38 year employee of Herlihey Air Freight and Trucking Company. He will be remembered for his love of camping, helping others and working on cars. He will be especially missed for preparing an awesome Sunday breakfast, oyster stuffing at Thanksgiving Dinner and for being an all around "Mr. Fix it"! Funeral services will be held at theJ. A. McCormack Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton Thursday at 10 a.m. Rev. Corey S. Van Kuren will officiate. Burial will be in Welsh Hill Cemetery, Uniondale, Pa. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Leonard may be made to NYS Veterans Home, 4211 State Highway 220, Oxford, N.Y. 13830.
