Obituary of Ignatius Maddi

Dr.
Ignatius Maddi, 83, Vestal, formerly of Binghamton died Sunday morning, January
28, 2001 at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Fla. Dr. Maddi was born and
raised in New York City. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Anthony.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie M. Maddi, Vestal; a son Dr.
Joseph Maddi, Buffalo; two daughters, Dr. Rosemarie Maddi, Boston, Mass.
MaryLinda Maddi, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a son-in-law, Robert B. Hefferan, Pittsburgh,
Pa.; two grandsons, Thomas Maddi and Trevor Maddi, both of Buffalo; five
granddaughters, Kathryn Hefferan, Caroline Hefferan, Elise Hefferan, all of
Pittsburgh, Pa., Claire Maddi, Christina Maddi, both of Buffalo; several nieces
and nephews. Dr. Maddi was a member of St. Patrick Church, Binghamton where he
was an usher for many years. Dr. Maddi received his BS from New York University
and graduated from University of Buffalo School of Dentistry. He was a
Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Dr. Maddi practiced dentistry
and oral surgery in Binghamton for 41 years until his retirement in 1987. He
was an active member of the Staff at Binghamton General Hospital, Our Lady of
Lourdes Hospital and Wilson Memorial Hospital. His community service included
participation in numerous organizations. Most noteworthy are: School Board
Member for the Binghamton School District, Board Member of Ideal Senior Living
Center, Binghamton Youth Symphony and United Health Services. Dr. Maddi was
instrumental in establishing a No Cost Dental Clinic in Binghamton. He was a
member of the Broome County Dental Society and the Binghamton Country Club.
Funeral services will be held at theJ. A. Mc Cormack Sons Funeral Home, 141
Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick
Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery,
Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Mc Cormack Funeral Home
Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial
contributions to United Health Services Foundation, 10-42 Mitchell Avenue,
Binghamton, N.Y. 13905 or the American Heart Association, 59 Court Street,
Binghamton, N.Y. 13902.
