J.
Richard Freije, 77, of Binghamton, died Wednesday morning, September 5, 2001 at
his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Moses and Jessie Freije; and his
brother, Arthur Freije. Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He
is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Louise Tirrell Freije, Binghamton;
three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Lawrence Herdegen, Blakwood, N.J.,
Elizabeth and Neil Rosini, Montclair, N.J., Laura and Richard Augustine,
Albany; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Margaret Freije, Worcester,
Mass., Dr. James and Marsha Freije, Sayre, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Kathryn,
Laura, Daniel, Christine, Edward, Carter and Matthew; two sisters and
brothers-in-law, Joyce and Edward Dacey, Vestal, Barbara and William Zinck,
Endwell; sisters-in-law, Dr. Genevieve Tirrell and Mary Tirrell, both of
Binghamton; several nieces and nephews. Dick was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas
Church, Binghamton, and retired President of Freije Electric, Inc. He graduated
from the University of Notre Dame and served in the Army Air Corps during World
War II. He was a member of the Binghamton Club and the Austin Putting Academy.
Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main
St., Binghamton, Friday at 9 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas
Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in St. Augustine's
Cemetery, Silver Lake, Pa. The family will receive friends at the McCormack
Funeral Home Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of
Dick may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1 Aquinas St., Binghamton, N.Y.
13905, or the charity of one's choice.
