Obituary of Joseph F. Benza

Benza, Joseph F. Endwell: Joseph F. Benza was greeted by his wife, Delores, at the Gates of Heaven this November 27, 2012, who escorted him to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ. Joseph, the son of Anthony and Sarah Benza, was born May 7, 1933 in Millbrook, NY. He was a skilled multi-sport athlete, graduating from Millbrook High School, then attending and graduating from Broome Community College, thereafter furthering his education at Harpur College, predecessor to Binghamton University. He served his country with distinction in the United States Army. Joseph enjoyed a successful career as a Metropolitan Insurance Agent for many years before owning and operating Servpro of Binghamton until 1993, when he retired. Joseph was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters and their wives/husbands, Raymond (Eleanor), Augie, Andy, and Nick; sisters, Anna (Fidel) Fiore, Rose (Augie) Rotunno, Phyllis Cross; and brother-in-law, Louis Sepe Sr. He is survived by a sister, Mary Sepe; sisters-in-law, Rita Benza and Mildred Benza; and brother-in-law, Robert Cross; as well as cousins, Louis Benza, Al Benza, Marion Benza, Buster Benza, Francis Benza and Louis Muraca. Upon retirement, Joe enjoyed golf and travel (especially to Catholic shrines in Europe), while spending alternate winters in California, Florida, and Arizona. Joe also loved his Yankees! Joe was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Endicott. Joe shall be dearly missed by nieces and nephews, Toni Conners, Raymond (Margie) Benza, Angela (Norm) Zecca, Sara (Jim) Van Nostrand, Louis (Michelle) Sepe, Skip (Maureen) Benza, Mick Benza, Gery (Sandy) Benza, Steve (Carla) Benza, Andy (Ann) Rotunno, John (Liz) Rotunno, Kathy (Glenn) Gagnon, Andrea (James) Manning, Patrice (Lido) Lucarinni, Peter (Simone) Benza, Debbie (Brent) Pickett and Robert Cross Jr. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Saturday at 8:45 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Washington Avenue, Endicott, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Friday from 5-7 p.m.
