G. Gerald "Jerry" Giblin, 65, of Syracuse, died Sunday afternoon, October 27, 2002 at Community General Hospital, Syracuse. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Ella Hawley Giblin; his brother, William Giblin; brother-in-law, Paul Tirrell; and father-in-law, Jerome Higgins. Jerry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathleen Higgins Giblin, Syracuse; two sons and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Gina Giblin and their son Nolan, Syracuse, Daniel Giblin and June Smith and her daughter, Nicole Smith; brothers and sisters, Frank Giblin, Mary Tirrell, both of Binghamton, Edward Giblin, Brackney, Pa., Ellen Kenner, Syracuse; sister-in-law, Mary Giblin, Binghamton; mother-in-law, Jane Vanston Higgins, Syracuse; many nieces and nephews. He was a member of Most Holy Rosary Church, Syracuse, a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy and St. Michael's College of University of Toronto, Ph.D. candidate in History from Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and MSW from Syracuse University. He was president of Valley Youth Hockey and a Little League Baseball coach and a counselor at Vesid in Syracuse. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Friday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, Pa. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Thursday, from 3 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jerry may be made to Readings for the Blind, 20 Roszel Rd., Princeton, N.J. 08540.
