Obituary of Ann M. Hogan

Ann M. Hogan passed away peacefully Wednesday March 11, 2015 in the comfort of her own home at the age of 99. Ann was born December 22, 1915 to Delia and Francis Keery, in Walton, NY. Ann was predeceased by her husband of many years, James H. Hogan and son, Dennis M. Hogan; as well as siblings, Agnes, Hilda, Francis, Abram Keery and Mary Gempler. Ann is survived by her children, Dr. James Hogan (Ann Marie), Dr. Joseph Hogan (Kathleen), Maureen Murray (Daniel) and daughter-in-law Barbara Hogan Lake. Ann is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Timothy (Natalie), Patrick, Kevin and Maura Hogan; Kathleen Hogan, Margaret (George) Bakey, Joseph (Luna) Hogan, Thomas, John and Mary Hogan; Sean and Carrie Murray; Sarah, Elizabeth and Hannah Hogan. Ann is also survived by four great grandchildren, Julia, Grace and Patrick Bakey and John Jamison. Ann graduated from Walton High School and The College of New Rochelle. Ann taught school in Port Dickinson, then married and moved to Binghamton to raise her four children. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ann's priorities were caring for her children, instilling her wonderful values and stressing the importance of education. Ann returned to teaching to help put her children through college. Ann taught Elementary School, French and was the first Remedial Reading teacher in the Binghamton School District. Ann had a keen interest in everything and everyone, as well as a sunny disposition and quick wit. Ann was a devout Catholic and attended St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Vestal. Going to Saturday afternoon Mass was the highlight of Ann's week. The family would like to thank the "girls," (Cindy, Sue, Esther, Michelle and Helen) who cared for their mother, helping to make her comfortable and happy in her home. The family would also like to thank Lourdes Hospice for helping their mother in her final days. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal Friday at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Ann may be made to Lourdes Hospital Foundation (Hospice), 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
