Vincent dePaul McCormick,83, of the Town of Binghamton passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015 at the Good Shepard Fairview Home Rehabilitation Facility. Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Joseph F. and Loretta (McManus) McCormick; a daughter, Eileen B. McCormick; his brother, Regis J. McCormick; his in-laws, Walter and Angela Barschdorf; his sisters-in-law, Shirley (Weber) McCormick and Ruth (Davis) McCormick; and his nephew, Robert J. McCormick. He is survived by his wife of 60 years (February 12, 1955), Ruth J. (Barschdorf) McCormick; his son, Brendan P. McCormick and his wife, Laura (Barba) of Waverly, NY; five granddaughters, Kelsey H., of Raleigh, NC, Emily F., Krista J., Elizabeth G., and Kaitlin T.H., who are living at home. Vincent is also survived by his brother, J. Kevin and his sister, Marianne (McCormick) Murphy and husband, Tom; as well as many nieces and nephews. Vincent was a graduate of Saint Patrick's Academy, Class of 1948. He was a member of Saints John and Andrew Roman Catholic Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps for three years and as a sergeant during the Korean War from November 1950 to December 1951. He fought as part of the 1st Marine Division, "The Chosin Few," at the Chosin Reservoire. Vincent was a lifetime member of many local organizations, including The Knights of Columbus, the Binghamton Elks #852, the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, the American Legion #1645, Penn-York Police Association, Marine Corps League, Korean War Veterans Association, Inc., and Exclusive Fraternity of Honor, "The Chosin Few." He was also a retired 38-year employee of IBM Corporation, where he was a Product Security Investigator. Vincent will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was devoted to his church and his country. His family was his treasure. His granddaughters were his particular pride and joy, and he doted upon them with all the love, time and affection that he could muster. We thank God, through Jesus Christ, for blessing us with this man of intelligence, humor and faithfulness. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue Binghamton Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustines Cemetery , Silver Lake, PA in the spring. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Vince may be made to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 7 Livingston Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
