Obituary of Marilyn J. Ryan

Marilyn Jean Ryan, 79, a longtime resident of Johnson City and more recently of Good Shepherd Fairview Home in Binghamton passed away peacefully on July 24, 2014. Marilyn now rejoins her sister and brother-in-law Anne and Robert Kristek in eternal life. Marilyn was also predeceased by her parents, Paul and Anna Ryan. Marilyn is survived by her nephews, Robert Jr. (HuiSuk) Kristek, Thomas (Ann) Kristek, Steve (Kathy) Kristek; and her niece, Marilyn (John) Niland; her great nieces and nephews, Michael, Sean, Kara, Steve, Colleen, Matt, Ryan, Mary Kate, David, Gabriella and Grayson; and her lifelong friend, Joan Guido. She was a graduate of St. Paul's High School and St. Mary's Nursing School in Rochester. Marilyn dedicated her nursing career to the compassionate care of patients at Lourdes Hospital where she was a beloved head nurse and nursing supervisor for many years. Marilyn was an active member of St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church. To know Marilyn was to love Marilyn. Marilyn embraced her Irish heritage; was always quick with a warm smile and a kind word. She was much more than just an aunt to her nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Good Shepherd Fairview Home for their loving care and friendship during her time there. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Marilyn may be made to Lourdes Hospital Foundation, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905 or Good Shepherd Communities Foundation, 80 Fairview Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13904.
