Bernice I. (Smith) Yedinak, 92, of Binghamton, died Thursday morning, June 19, 2014, at her home after a short illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Elizabeth Smith; her husband of 57 years, Bernard J. Yedinak; her brothers, Chester and Jack Smith; her son-in-law, Thomas O'Neill; and her grandson, James O'Neill. She is survived by her three daughters, AnnMarie and Richard Dingleberry, Endicott, Joan O'Neill, Binghamton, Ilene and William Greenwald, Johnson City; and her son, Bernard T. Yedinak, Kirkwood; six grandchildren, Kathy and Roger Peacock, Karen and Leonard Cross, Christine and Richard Kwong, Patrick O'Neill, Maureen and Ralph Gonzalez, Daniel Greenwald; nine great-grandchildren, Mathew, Joseph, Trevor, and Mary O'Neill, Aaron and Brian Cross, Chelsea and Alex Kwong, Ryan, Connor, and Patrick Gonzalez; one great-great-granddaughter, Natalie O'Neill; sister-in-law, Bernadine Waitkavicz; and brother-in-law, John Yedinak; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton, and was employed by JC Penney for 20 years as a seamstress, and then continued her love of sewing at home for 25 more years. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the nurses and aides from Lourdes at Home and Lourdes Hospice for the comfort and care they gave our Mom and a special niece, Linda Smith, for her help and support during Mom's final days. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Ave., Binghamton, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Monday from 3-6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bernice may be made to the Church of Saints John and Andrew, 7 Livingston St., Binghamton, NY 13903.
