John "Jack" Earl Gosney, 83, of Binghamton, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born November 22, 1930 to Earl and Catherine (Sheehan) Gosney in Binghamton. He graduated from Saint Paul's High School in 1949 and proudly served his country as a member of the United State Marine Corps. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Jayne Davis. Jack and Jayne went on to have seven children: John Kevin, James, Joanne, Jerome, Jane Karen, Joseph, and Jacqueline. Jack celebrated his long career with IBM when he retired in 1989 as the manager of the IBM country club. After retirement, he enjoyed working with the Broome County courts, traveling with his wife Jayne and friends, and spending time with his family. Throughout his life, he served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations. Recently, Jack was honored for his 27 years of volunteer work with the Stop DWI Holiday Classic. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for Notre Dame, the Yankees, and Seton Catholic High School. Jack was deeply devoted to the Lord and his church. He attended Mass daily and was an active member of the parish of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. Jack's proudest accomplishment was his family. "Pa," as he was known to his family, is survived by Jayne, his wife of 62 years; his children, Kevin (Mary) Gosney, Jimmy Gosney, Joanne Taylor, Jerry (Sharon) Gosney, Karen (Joe) Barnes, Joe (Martha) Gosney, and Jackie (Chet) Kupiec; 23 grandchildren, John, Jeffrey, and Jason, Shalea and Alicia, Timmy and Nicole, Katie, Jerome, Danny, Carolyn, and Patrick, Kristen, Kelley, Patrick, and Erin, Jennie, Joey, and Jayne, Megan, Sarah, Kelly, and Jake; six great-grandchildren, Harper and Hadley, Daniel and Jack, Cameron and Aaron; nieces, MaryCay, Julie; nephew, Bobby Gosney; and cousins; as well as his brother and best friend, Robert (Sophie) Gosney.
