Obituary of Gerald W. Crosby
Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jerry, 69, of Binghamton, went to heaven unexpectedly on April 6, 2014 with his sister, Beverly and niece, Lisa by his side. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth, whom he loved and adored; his father, Jack Crosby; and is survived by his stepmother, Dorothy Crosby; lovingly cared for by a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and William Sheredy, Endwell; a dearly loved big brother and sister-in-law, John and Johanna Crosby, Hyannisport, MA; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bob DuBrava, Endicott. He was a fun and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, Lisa Sheredy, Suzanne Sheredy, Jennifer and Matt Hinton and Philip and Vanessa DuBrava. He had the biggest heart, a sense of humor, the sharpest mind, and no matter what he was challenged with, he was always proud of his siblings. Jerry worked at Fowler's Department Store and alongside his father Jack as a bartender catering special events at the Holiday Inn Arena, and worked at Pancho's Pit. He excelled in sports trivia, loved the Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers, and proudly displayed his Green Bay Packers stockholders' certificate and Superbowl Championship rings. He was Elvis' #1 fan and had every song ever recorded. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, holiday dinners and taking home tons of leftovers. He especially loved visiting John and Johanna at the Cape, sightseeing at the Kennedy Compound, and taking his nieces, Lisa and Suzy, to see Zippy the Rollerskating Chimp at Fowler's. He loved to spend time with his cat, Blue and family dogs, Babe and Binky. He will be dearly missed. Memorial services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Clarence Rumble will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, at a later date. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Thursday from 10-11 a.m. A memorial mass will be offered at the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Binghamton Humane Society, 2 Jackson St., Binghamton, NY 13903
