Obituary of Mary Smith

Mary Mahar Smith, 85, of Endwell, passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Leigh and Julia Mahar; a granddaughter, Kristen; and a great-grandson, Cody; and her brother, Robert T. Mahar. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald J. Smith; her children, Michael and Anne Smith, Donna and Dr. William Nugent, James Smith, William and Margaret Smith, Kathryn Guiles, David and Jana Smith; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Peg Mahar, Shirley Sullivan, Karen Ritter, Beverly Smith; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton. Mary enjoyed her children and grandchildren and family gatherings at her home. She was a member of the Binghamton Country Club. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
