Obituary of Patrick J. Price
Please share a memory of Patrick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
PATRICK J. PRICE, born and raised in Vestal, New York, and a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Eagle fan, died on August 28, 2024 after an all too brief battle with cancer. Patrick was predeceased by his father, Paul and mother, Rita. He is survived by his brothers, Paul and Rob, his sister-in-law Teresa (thanks Terry) and his niece Kayla (Roberto) and nephew Doctor Tyler. He is also survived by numerous cousins and family from the Price clan and Marnell clan. Patrick excelled at soccer (and also claimed to excel at golf) playing on the varsity team at Vestal for four years nominated as All-State and All-American in 1984 and being named MVP in his sophomore year when Vestal won the New York State Championship in 1982. He was offered a full scholarship to play soccer at Hartwick College, declined and went on to play four years at Cornell where he received no scholarship (thanks Paul B.) and was ultimately the captain of that team in 1988. He earned his BA in Economics from Cornell. When his "playing days" were over he went on to Binghamton University and earned an MS in Accounting. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and had been an officer and past President of the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a member of his other family at Vieira & Associates CPAs, P.C. in Endicott, New York where he enjoyed both his co-workers and clients. As Pat probably sang many times – "We used to play for silver, now we play for life; And one's for sport and one's for blood at the point of a knife; And now the die is shaken, now the die must fall; There ain't a winner in the game, he don't go home with all - Not with all." (Bob Weir)
Patrick's family wishes to thank the medical professionals at Lourdes/Guthrie for their compassionate care during a difficult and sad time.
