Obituary of Daniel J. Buckley

Daniel J. Buckley 89 (Dan, Danny, Uncle Buck, Danny Boy, 88 Keys, Mr. Bucks) passed away Saturday evening March 9 at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Frances Buckley, his siblings Robert Buckley (Helen), Gerald Buckley (Dorothy), Ancilla Buckley and Rita Wall and his beloved dog Barney. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Laura and Robert Crounse, Binghamton, NY, his son Christopher Buckley and grandchildren Fiona and Ronan Buckley New Britain, CT; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. After graduation from Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA. Dan went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Mansfield University and a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Scranton. He served in the US Army where he was a member of the Fifth Army Band. Dan also was a proud member of the Susquehanna American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps as well as a lifelong member of the American Federation of Musicians. Dan retired from the NYS Department of Labor but remained an active musician in the Binghamton area for many years. He was well known for his versatility at the piano; if you could hum he could play it. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Good Shepherd Village in Endwell for their gracious and compassionate care of Dan. They are proof that angels walk among us. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA. The family will receive friends at St. Patrick's Church, Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Mass will be livestreamed at www.sta-sp.org In memory of Dan, sit back, relax and enjoy a great piece of music.
