Obituary of Terrance M. Nealon

In loving memory of Terrance "Terry" Michael Nealon, who passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Born on April 3, 1959, in Binghamton, NY, Terry's adventurous spirit and love for laughter enriched the lives of those around him. Terry is predeceased by his parents Robert and Mary (Lane) Nealon; his in-laws Jack and Jeanine Nelson, and Robert Canan; and brothers-in-law Carl Parson, John Lakatos, and Jim "Mac" McNamara. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Tamara "Tammie" Nealon; his daughter Nicole Nealon Fox (Ryan); his granddaughter Maevlyn Grace Fox; siblings Colleen Marion (Bill), Bobby Nealon (Susie), Mary Beth Parson, Suzanne Savage (Joe), David Nealon, and Laurie Duffy (Jim); sister-in-law Debbie Lakatos, and brothers-in-law Tim Canan (Michelle) and Bob Canan. Terry is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Terry grew up in Binghamton, NY, and graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 1977. Terry's love for sports was a defining aspect of his childhood, and he found immense joy on the baseball diamond and basketball court. From the crack of the bat to the swish of the net, he embodied the spirit of friendly competition, teamwork, and the thrill of the game. On the baseball field, Terry showcased his athleticism, dedication, and love for the sport, but basketball was the main arena where Terry's skills shone brightly. Whether sinking a three-pointer with precision or orchestrating a seamless play on the court, he embraced the fast-paced, dynamic nature of the game. After high school, Terry enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, where he served with honor for four years on a Search and Rescue Station in Chincoteague, VA, and was decorated for meritorious actions on September 7, 1978. It was during this time that he met his soulmate, Tammie, also a Coast Guard member. Their shared commitment to service sparked a lifelong adventure filled with love and companionship. Following an accomplished 23-year career with NYSEG, Terry embraced retirement with the same enthusiasm and vigor that defined his professional life. He dedicated himself to pursuits that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. His love for the great outdoors manifested in his passion for hiking, exploring hidden trails, and traversing gorgeous waterfalls with Tammie. One destination held a particularly special place in their hearts – the cherished return to Chincoteague, where their love story began. The sandy shores and ocean breezes of Chincoteague held a timeless allure for Terry, and each visit was a nostalgic journey back to the beginning of their lifelong adventure. A true music aficionado, Terry reveled in the magic of music festivals, where the rhythmic beats and melodies became a soundtrack to his life. As an avid sports fan, he loved cheering for his favorite teams, the NY Giants and Yankees, and his enthusiasm was infectious. Whether it was a weekend game or a family gathering, Terry's presence made every moment more vibrant. A dedicated family man, Terry found immense joy in being a loving husband to Tammie, a caring father to Nicole, and a proud grandfather to Maevlyn Grace. He cherished every moment spent with his family, and his laughter and warm spirit will forever echo in their hearts. Terry's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will be held dear and celebrated. His legacy of love, kindness, and the joy he brought to others will endure through the stories and memories shared by those whose lives he touched. A Funeral Mass to honor Terry's life will be offered on Monday, November 13, 2023 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton at 12 noon. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Monday from 11 a.m. until 12 noon..
