Obituary of John J. Hawley
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John J. Hawley "Hawk", 69, Binghamton, NY entered into eternal rest on March 14, 2023. He is now reunited with his parents, Joseph and Rita Hawley.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Beavers, Leanne (Marcus) Zimmer, Matthew Outman, Steven (Karen) Beavers, Angela (Carl) Winters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 5 sisters, Patricia Skojec, Margaret Hawley, Martha (Terry) Bass, Ruth (Ken) Varga, Mary (Tim) Hovda, 6 brothers, Jerry (Sharon) Hawley, Phillip (Rosemary) Hawley, Tim (Lainie) Hawley, Bill (Michele) Hawley, Tom Hawley, Mark (Mary) Hawley, several nieces, nephews, cousins and long time family friend, Mary Jo Brooks.
John was a hardworking, dedicated employee at EJ Footwear for many years and often reminisced about his earlier days working at Mrs. Smith's Pies.
He was born September 4, 1953, the seventh of twelve children. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was proud of his Irish heritage and always looked forward to attending the local Irish festivals. At family reunions, the kids could count on him to help catch crawfish in the creek. Some of his fondest memories were taking trips to the 1000 Islands, especially Alexandria Bay for Pirate's weekend. He loved golfing and always looked forward to the annual B.C. Open. His favorite sports teams were the NY Giants and Yankees. In 2018, he surprised everyone when he took a trip with Michelle to visit family in New Mexico. John was a constant joker and had a wonderful sense of humor. He would always be the first one to wish someone "Happy Birthday", usually via text message before sunrise. John had a big heart. He touched a lot of people's lives and will surely be missed.

I Said an Irish Prayer
I said an Irish prayer today
Especially for you
For family, true friends,
And faith to last your
Whole life through.
I asked the Lord to give you
A shelter from the storm,
And just enough of His
Good grace to keep you
Safe and warm.
I prayed the road would
Rise to meet you
All along your way – and smilin'
Irish eyes would greet you
Every single day.
