Obituary of Jerome W. McCarthy

Jerome W. "Bill" McCarthy, 81, of Binghamton, passed away on Monday February 13, 2023 after a long battle with declining health. He was predeceased by his parents Jerome, Sr. and Mary (Purtell) McCarthy. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1969. He was retired from the New York State Tax Department. After retirement he worked part time for Star Dental. He was a member of Elks Lodge #70, American Legion Post 1645 and was a long member of the Parish of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth (Richard) Kabanek, San Jose, CA and Ruth McCarthy, Binghamton; his nephew, Robert (Robin) Kabanek; his niece Susan (Scott) Bishop, San Jose, CA; great nieces and nephews, Riley Kabanek, and Alex, Dylan and Julia Bishop. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Monday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
