Obituary of Nancy A. Vanno

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy A. Vanno 73, after a courageous four and a half year battle with cancer. She died at home surrounded by her loved ones. Nancy was born on April 7, 1949 and entered into eternal rest on June 25, 2022. She was predeceased by her father Andrew Vanno and her mother Eva Vanno along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and many very close friends. She is survived by her loving partner of many years, Jerry Testa and very close friends Linda Goodison-Johnson, Kate Grippen and Ruth Chanecka along with many other friends, to many to mention. Nancy taught at Windsor Central Schools for 35 years retiring in 2006. Nancy lived life to the fullest until her final days. She enjoyed her summer trips to Saratoga, her yearly trips to Las Vegas, cards with the pitch girls, her weekly visits to the Relief Pitcher and most of all her many visits to her favorite place, Mohegan Sun casino with her gal pals. Once in a while Jerry even got to go. She enjoyed her wine and a good dirty martini with bleu cheese olives. Many sincere thanks to Dr. Ronald Harris, Katy, Deb and all the staff at Broome Oncology. Also special thanks to Lourdes Hospice for their wonderful care allowing her to stay at home. Nancy very much appreciated her best friend Linda from Florida staying with her until the end. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, 282 Chenango Street, Binghamton, Friday July 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Church, Friday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Nancy's memory may be made to The Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903 or to Lourdes Hospital Foundation (Hospice), 169 Riverside Drive, Suite 103, Binghamton, NY 13905. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a later date.
