Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacqueline Marie Cox was born at French Hospital in New York City on 07/11/1932. She died peacefully in her sleep on 04/08/2022. She was a beautiful lady in every way. Jackie was predeceased by her parents Edward, Sr. and Nora (Kelly) Holohan and her bother Edward Holohan, Jr.
She is survived by her husband Edward Michael Cox, Sr. M.D., children Elizabeth Anne Cox, Edward Michael Cox, Jr. M.D., Christine Marie Roemer (John), John Thomas Cox, grandchildren Nora and Magdalene Roemer and Lauren Cox, sister-in- law and brother-in-law Catherine and Thomas Crowe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie graduated from St. Jean Baptiste High School in N.Y.C., earned her R.N. at Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing, and in 1981 earned her B.S. in Nursing at S.U.N.Y.-Binghamton.
Ed met Jackie at a dance at Bellevue Nursing School and they were married after Ed graduated from N.Y.U.- Bellevue Medical School. She was a pediatric intake nurse at Bellevue Hospital weekdays and did general nursing at Beth Israel Hospital on some weekends.
In Binghamton, she worked as a E.R. nurse at Lourdes Hospital, then a medical office nurse, and later a home care nurse after a hiatus for family.
She was a member of the Junior League of Binghamton, Harpur Forum, Broome County Medical Society Auxiliary, and delivered Meals on Wheels with Liz for almost 20 years.
Jackie loved her life in Binghamton and had many wonderful friends. We enjoyed tennis and other activities at the Binghamton Tennis Center, skied at Greek Peak, out west, and Europe.
In more recent years, Jackie took up bridge and golf, took golf cruises and trips with friends and even played the Old Course at St. Andrews.
She was an avid traveler, vacationing on both U.S. coasts, Florida, Canada, Caribbean, Ireland, U.K., Europe, Corsica, Greece, Turkey and Egypt with family and friends.
Jackie was an enthusiastic gardener and reader.
Her family is fortunate to have had her wonderful love for so many years.
At Jackie's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones may donate to the charity of their choice in her memory.
We thank the healthcare providers who helped her have a full and active life, and the Binghamton Police and First Responders for their kindness and support in the immediate post death period.
