Obituary of Jean L. Austin

Jean Lanelle (Harris) Austin passed away at the age of 94 on Wed., Dec. 29, 2021. Jean was predeceased by her parents Junius and Josephine as well as eleven sisters and brothers. Her husband of 64 years William Roger Austin passed away Sept. 11, 2019. Jean is survived by her children and their spouses Sharon (Joe) Wenzel, Bradley, and Ronald (Kathryn); grandchildren and their spouses Samuel Wenzel; Heather (Josh) Cummings; Katy (Ethan) Crumley; great grandchildren Ava and Bexley Cummings; and Seth Crumley; in addition to many nieces and nephews. When Jean was a young adult, she worked at Southern Bell Telephone as an operator. Later she was a sales clerk in the women's clothing department of Montgomery Ward department store for 20 years. The family would like to thank the staff at Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their care and compassion. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home 141 Main Street, Binghamton on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Wednesday from 1pm until 2 p.m.
