Obituary of Esther I. O'Hara

Our beloved Mom, Esther I. O'Hara (Wisotzke), 100, went to be with our Lord on June 19, 2021, surrounded by her family. Mom was the 13th child out of 14 born on April 17, 1921 in Eau Claire, WI. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph and her son David; parents - John and Lena (Sweep) Wisotzke, and twelve brothers and sisters. She is survived by one sister: Margaret Robelia, Eau Claire, WI. Children: Janet (Dwight) Jenkins, Port St Lucie, FL; Joseph (Bonnie) O'Hara & Patrick O'Hara, Jamestown, NY; Robert (Barbara) O'Hara, Johnson City, and Anne (Sam) Santoni, Binghamton, NY. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Mom joined the US Army during WWII where she was sent to London England in 1943 where she met her love, Joe. They were married on April 14, 1944. She was a member of the Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Forces under General Eisenhower. She retired from Binghamton General Hospital. Mom was an amazing artist, loved to read, do the daily crossword puzzle, garden, sew, knit and was a talented quilter. She loved to sing, and was a member of the Sweet Adelines. She donated much of her time to giving to the poor. The family would like to thank the staff at United Methodist Home at Hilltop JGJ for their compassionate care and support during our mother's stay. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, 7 Livingston Street, Binghamton, NY 13903
