Scott A. Shirk, 57, of Conklin, NY, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Sunbury, PA to Kenneth E. Shirk and Sarah (Hoffman) Shirk Sweeney. Scott married the love of his life, Sally Gorick, on June 18, 1977. Together they raised three beautiful children who survived him: Nicholas A. Shirk, Stephanie K. (Michael) Cardarelli, and Laurel Alexis Shirk. He was a member and former Parish Council President of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He was an Eagle Scout and served as Scout Master Troop 83, Conklin, NY. He was a devoted father, supporting his children in all of their various activities including ice hockey, golf, soccer, dance, and music recitals. He loved his Harley, "Chocolate Thunder," and enjoyed riding with the Southern Tier Harley Davidson Association. Summertime was spent with family and friends at Sandy Pond, NY boating and playing Euchre games. In addition, "Curby" (as he was fondly called by his friends) enjoyed many football trips with the YAZ Tour - "Fly Eagles Fly!" The family extends its gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Kloss and the entire staff of Broome Oncology for the many kindnesses and care they provided to Scott.
