To the Akel family, I am so sorry to hear about George's passing. He left his mark in many young teens by instilling a great work ethic that I still carry to this day. He was admired and respected by many. Prayers and condolences to the family.

My three brothers and I had the good fortune of working for Mr. Akel in the 1970's and 1980's. We "opened" the Hooper Road Giant Market during our high school and college years, and learned many strong lessons in business, courtesy, high expectations, and interpersonal skills through this experience. Mr. Akel was even-tempered, patient, and unafraid to join his employees in any task that needed to be accomplished. His kindness and generosity will be sorely missed in our community.

In the continuum, we’re often surprised by what the future holds anonymous and later brought to lifes’ doorstep (for us all) especially when we trust and believe.

I am unable to say here the lessons this man taught me in sometimes subtle and indirect ways.
All he had to do was speak with an expression or his eyes and you might always know what he was feeling. Yet he always saw others view and had a way of making meaningful conversation allowing completely surprising responses to comfort or give you the warmth-ness found in his soul.

For once, a giant tree has fallen in the forest, and luckily we heard it! George, the jokester, consummate gentleman, Family man, loving husband, generous and inquisitive man has left us, but his good deeds has upgraded him to a legend in our mind.
He is always with a smile, even when he is not feeling well, his handshake is perpetually firm, honest and all encompassing. His piercing eyes always fill you with warmth and the smile, letting you know that he is present in mind and thoughts..
He privately brags about his 3 children, accentuating their accomplishments, between a synopsis of their short biographies, luckily the sons are identical and inherited his good looks and kindly disposition. He waxes eloquence about his daughter and the artworks hung in their house from her and her husband. He speaks well of his in-laws and the gorgeous grandkids.
To Sally, his beautiful bride, I remember him, telling the story of how you met, to us over your delicious cooking, and you kept correcting the facts, with him laughing his head off and making it more romantic all along,m. Please, be assured that his soul is in the Lord. He has been a very good human being and Christian, and you can be rest-assured. Take time to grief and I pray that you will eventually be at peace, with his departure. Requiscat In Pace.
