Obituary of Velma Reitz

Reitz, Velma H. Town of Maine: Velma H. Reitz, 96, of the Town of Maine, died Sunday, September 1, 2013, at her home. She was born January 27, 1917 to the late Bertha and Charles Hartzell of NuMine, PA. She married Elead D. Reitz on October 15, 1936. Together they owned and operated a farm equipment store and Reitz Transportation Co. in DuBois, PA. Velma was a Girl Scout leader and President of the Girl Scout Council for 30 years. She was also a founding force and lifetime member of the DuBois, PA historical society. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Elliott D. and Judy Reitz, Binghamton; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, E.D. Reitz; a son, David A. Reitz; and a grandson, Michael D. Reitz. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday at 6 p.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Punxsutawney, PA, at a later date. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday from 4-6 p.m.
