Obituary of Frank Denniston

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Monday, October 1st Frank "Butch" Denniston passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 79. Frank was preceded by his wife Carol (Lochead) Denniston, his parents Jane (Mangan) and Frank, his brother John, his sister-in-law Marie (DeLorenzo) Denniston and his brother-in-law Stephen Haust. He leaves behind his two daughters Gwen Denniston and Jean (Ben) Booska, his two grandchildren Eleanor and Walter Booska, his siblings Patricia McPeak, Mary Haust, and Raymond Denniston, sister-in-law Ann Denniston, sister-in-law Faye (Lochead) Ryan, his brother-in-law Tom Ryan, and 13 nieces and nephews. Frank lead a full life. His family growing up is one of dry humor and perseverance. Frank was the oldest of five children and they spent their formative years in their grandmother's home with their mother and great aunts. He went to North High School where he was later honored as a Distinguished Graduate and continued on to get his bachelor's and master's in Electrical Engineering from RPI. Before going into the work force he spent two years in the army, leaving with a rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He then went on to work for New York Telephone and its' many names throughout his career where he took on larger roles of responsibility and found great joy in his work. Along the way he met his wife Carol and they eventually settled in Yonkers, NY where they raised their two children. He had a love of music, heritage and history, you could often find him bellowing out an old Irish tune, or stomping along with any folk music. He loved to travel and did so as often as he could especially to Russia and Germany. Frank was a loyal man who had two roommates just after college and these men continued to be best friends throughout their entirety of their lives. He will be remembered for his stubbornness and his dry wit. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Leroy and Oak Streets, Binghamton, Monday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Frank's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. If he could leave the world with one piece of advice it would be, heed his keen sense of fashion: red socks, plaid shorts, and a striped shirt is a solid outfit.
