John Carter became a friend of mine and the Irish Community specifically Project Children Festival at Grippen Park and The Irish Open Golf Tournament. He always assisted in advertising and donations. He helped me win a major prize at WMXW and “Most Romantic Moment” when I wrote a letter about meeting my wife Winifred but the whole letter made it seem that I was talking about Fred and the other two people wouldn’t read the letter because they thought it was about a gay couple! It was a classic but not as funny as when I sang My Ding a Ling live on the radio. John and Chris were good friends of my wife and mine for over 30 years! I am very sorry for your loss!

Dear Arline, Doug, and all of John's family: I am so very sorry for your loss. Some of my best memories are from the time I worked on the air at WAAL with John at the helm. I wish for all of you the best of memories, healing and good health.

Pete, I am so saddened to hear this and have enjoyed your fond stories about your Dad when you were at my place working.
Your father’s obituary made tears well up in my eyes as I read what a lovely man he was. You are much like your dad and I’m glad he helped you learn to love music.

Was really sad to hear of John's passing. I first met and worked with John when I was doing middays as a disc jockey at WSNG in Torrington, Ct. in 1978. When I moved to WACKY 102FM in Springfield, MA., he joined me there shortly after. Lots of great memories of both John and his wife Arlene. ❤️

John was the D.J. for our wedding reception in 1987. He apologized profusely when the 45 rpm record for our first dance song ("You Send Me" by Sam Cooke) started to skip. "I checked that beforehand, I swear!" We all just laughed. Nice guy. Our condolences to his friends and family.

So sorry for Arlene, John, III, Matt and Pete and all other relations and friends hunting. John was just about as good a person as I ever met. I'd say rest easy, but we all know that wasn't your style. I'm sure heaven can use some updating, or as we'd call it, "The John Carter Special". Keep an eye on us, God knows we need the help. See you on the B side.

Stunned to hear the sad news about John. I actually just thought about him recently. I've been away from the area for 20 years, but was blessed to have been able to call him a friend. He took me on his sailboat on Cayuga Lake (awesome!), and let me play catch with Buck, his awesome Chocolate Lab. He was a man's man. Knew how to build things and fix things. Had one of the best radio voices I have ever heard (to this day). When he was in a good mood, his presence put you in a GREAT mood.
He loved life and loved his family. We had fun. My condolences to Arlene, his kids, grandkids and close family and friends.

John Carter...a name synonomous with Radio, in Binghamton, New York. A Morning show host revered by listeners and fellow broadcasters alike. In all my 38 years in the broadcast business, few have left their indelible mark on me. John Carter was one who did.
There is a passage, by Bessie Anderson Stanley, which reads: “He has achieved success, who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much, who has enjoyed the respect of intelligent men, and the love of little children, who has filled his niche and accomplished his task, who left the world better than he found it, who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had, whose life was an inspiration, whose memory a benediction....that was John Carter. May you Rest In Peace, John.
To the Ruttle family...may all your wonderful memories help to ease your pain. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Mary Lou

I was saddened to learn of John's passing. I'll always have fond memories of working together in the mid-80's. He was one of the good guys. Helen Keller wrote, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us."
