Obituary of Edna M. Lebous

Edna Martha Lebous, of Binghamton, NY died at Lourdes Hospital on March 30, 2018. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 17, 1928 to the late Edna Martha (Davis) and William Freye. Edna came to Binghamton in 1949. She worked at Sissons Department Store and Acme Food Market. She married Binghamton resident Patrick T. Lebous in 1950. Edna was a loving homemaker and mother to her three children, and caretaker to her ailing mother-in-law. Having married into a Lebanese family, she became an excellent cook of numerous Lebanese dishes. Enda also served on the Broome County Republican Committee in the 1970s. Edna was predeceased by her husband Patrick, and her brothers, Al and William Freye. She is survived by her daughters Rochelle Morrell (Michael), Carlene Lebous-Haston (Harris), and her son Hon. Ferris D. Lebous and her beloved cat, Kaboodle. Edna is also survived by grandchildren, Ashlea Morrell-Singer (Jason), Brett Morrell, and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Madison Singer, numerous friends and neighbors at Good Shepherd-Fairview Home, and special friends and care givers, Tracey Young and Kathy Baltic. The family wishes to thank Dr. Marek Gawel for his compassionate and attentive care, treatment and friendship for more than a decade; and also thanks to Dr. Jerome Mikloucich and the Palliative Medicine Program at Lourdes Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, Chenango Street, Binghamton, Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Edna's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Good Shepherd-Fairview Community Foundation, 80 Fairview Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13904.
