Shirley A. Moriarty of Binghamton, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Jack of 60 years, and her parents Hector and Helen (Kennedy) Gilbert. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Hoefer and her husband David, Naples, Florida, Janice Calhoun and her husband Jack of Winston-Salem, NC; by her sons John W. Moriarty III, Conklin, NY, Brian Moriarty and wife Amy, East Granby, CT, Colin Moriarty and wife Teri, Maricopa, AZ, Kevin Moriarty and Alicia Mastronardi of Conklin, NY, Patrick Moriarty and wife Alyce, Potomac Falls, VA; by her grandchildren Michael, Abby, Colin, Brandon, Kyle, and Keelin. Other survivors include her brothers-in-law John Russell, Binghamton, NY, Jerry Moriarty, Binghamton, NY, Fred Moriarty and wife Carol, Hinsdale, NH. Shirley worked for New York Telephone where she met her husband Jack. She left the phone company after they were married and devoted her life to raising her five sons. Shirley lived at Good Shepherd Independent Living Center for the past three years where she was actively involved with the auxiliary. The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd facility as well as her dearest friends who lived there, Jane, Stella and Connie. Shirley loved to travel, spending time with her sons and grandchildren and visiting her sisters. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary's Church, 975 Route 11, Kirkwood Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Shirley may be made to the Lee Barta Scholarship Fund ? Susquehanna Valley Central School District, 1040 Conklin Road, Conklin, NY 13748.
