Obituary of Anthony J. Stillittano

Anthony J. Stillittano, 89, of Binghamton, passed away after a short illness on Monday, October 9, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemarie Dee Stillittano, his parents, Bruno and Antoinetta Stillittano and his three infant brothers Bruno, Joseph, John and Carmen Stillittano. He is survived by his three children and spouses Anthony and Nancy Stillittano, Binghamton, Marie and James Smith, Ilion, and Michele and Chuck Howgate, Ilion; his six grandchildren, Katherine Stillittano and fiancé, C. J. Hunt, Kimberlee and Bryce Shrake, Erin and Brian Fuller, Michael and Courtney Smith, Allison and Laura Howgate; his two great-grandchildren Emma Fuller and James Stephen Smith; his brothers and spouses John and Diane Stillittano, Binghamton, Joseph and Louise Stillittano, Boynton Beach, FL, and Angelo and Paula Stillittano, Binghamton; his sister-in-law Georgianna Lisandrelli, Whitesboro, as well as 16 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. He was known as "Stu, Tony, Uncle Tony, Pop, and Poppy." Anthony was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School, a veteran of the Korean War, a retiree (1/1/91) from the Iron Workers Local 60-Syracuse, as well as a retiree from Local 54/IATSE-Binghamton. During his service years he traveled to Austria and Italy; during his stage hand years, he worked in 48 of the 50 states. He was a devote Catholic attending mass regularly when his health allowed him to. After retirement, Anthony and Rosemarie spent years at their summer home on Lake Morraine, in Hamilton, NY, where Anthony truly enjoyed spending time. It was his pride and joy. When his wife became ill, Anthony became her caregiver until her passing in 2010. His last year, he spent in Ilion, NY, surrounded by his family and new found friends, sharing his life stories. The stories he would always tell are of the days he worked in his Uncle John Milasi's restaurant (cleaning chickens), his father's store, Bruno's Market, and helping his mother in the cellar (making wine) as well as many other stories about his childhood at 125 Susquehanna Street. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Court Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hamilton, NY. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Tony's name may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church-Refurbishment Fund, 15 Doubleday Street Binghamton, NY 13901.
