Obituary of Gary J. Davison

Gary J. Davison ,92, of West End Ave., Binghamton, peacefully passed into the Lord's loving arms on October 5, 2017 at Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He is survived by children, Gary H. Davison, wife, Ann and granddaughter, Jessica (Fairfax Station, Va.) and husband Thomas Youngs; Nancy Davison (Albany N.Y.); John Davison (Binghamton, N.Y.); and Diane Davison (Vt.). Gary was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy (in 2008), parents - Mary and John Davison; his sisters, Dorothy Denk and Kay Jeffers and his amazing friend and caregiver Gregory Bradley. Gary is also survived by many loving family and friends, including Angie Watkins, Cora and Frank Mauro, Deb Corrigan, Darrell Dunlap, Bill and Dolly Urdanick, Rose Louis and Latavia Bradley. Gary was born in Corning, NY and grew up in Binghamton, where he graduated from Binghamton Central High School and SUNY Binghamton. He was a local basketball star in his High School days and always a huge sports fan – especially celebrating the NY Knicks and NY Yankees. An entrepreneur from his earliest days, Gary built a myriad of small businesses during his lifetime and helped many others do the same. Most notable was his partnership with his mom in the Physicians Exchange (and 4 related entities) that grew to be the area's largest Answering Service and Call Center. However, Gary, a CPA who began his career in the finance department of Crowley's may be best known as an expert Financial Advisor and Stock Broker beginning at Bache and Co., then moving to Hugh Johnson & Co, E.F Hutton, Shearson Lehman and their successor firms Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley where he retired as a Vice President. Gary was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton and was a longstanding member and past President of the Lions Club of Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Gary would like to thank everyone for the many years of friendship and prayers. The family would like to especially thank the outstanding, energetic and caring staff of Willow Point who never gave up on the potential for a miracle rebound. The family also offers special thanks for the prayers, friendship and countless visits by Sister Hermenigilde and Sister Teresia over these past years.
