Charles J. "Chuck" Snyder Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on August 20 at the New York State Veterans' Home in Oxford NY. Chuck was born in Johnson City NY on July 1 1928. After graduating from Johnson City High School he served in the U. S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. He then attended Columbia University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1952, and Syracuse University, earning a Master of Arts in 1956. He had a long career as a speech therapist and as an educator, eventually retiring as a Professor of Speech Pathology at Ithaca College. Chuck was predeceased by his parents Charles (Sr) and Kathryn, and his son Paul. He is survived by his former wife Pauline of Denver CO; son Joe and his wife Vicki, of Redondo Beach CA; son John, of Wenonah NJ; daughters Mary and Elizabeth, of Denver; and grandchildren Haley, Caitlyn, Christian and Jesse. He is also survived by his sisters Mary and Roseanne, of Johnson City; his brother David and his wife Thelma, of Somers Point NJ; his brother Stephen, of Johnson City; his niece and goddaughter Lorraine, of Johnson City; as well as other nieces, nephews and family members. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. James Church in Johnson City on September 16 at 10:00 a.m. His family is grateful for the wonderful care he received during the last several years at the Oxford Veterans Home in Oxford NY.
