Obituary of Joan H. Budd
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan Budd, 87, of Binghamton, NY, formerly of Hallstead, PA; Vestal, NY; Kirkwood, NY; and Pine Island, FL left this life on June 8, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Mitchell Jesse, her husband of 40 years, Al Budd, and her infant son, Steven. Joan graduated from Harford High School and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. She took great pride in her nursing profession, working for many years for Dr. John Ford, Barnes-Kasson Hospital, and Dr. Charles Greene. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Louise Bache B.P.W., and the Hallstead-Great Bend Methodist Church. Joan enjoyed many hours on the water, fishing with Al while reading her books. She was known as a fierce card competitor, spending many hours doing so with family and friends. If you followed the whistling, you'd always find Joan. Surviving her are her devoted daughters Robin Armstrong, Lee Ann Roberts, and Bonnie Budd; brother Gerald (Ida) Anderson; sister Ruth (Ed) Rollman; brothers-in-law Gary (Jacqueline) Budd, David (Sherry) Budd, and Dennis (Jennifer) Budd; sisters-in-law Mary Jean (Robert) Edwards and Wendy (Kerry) English; grandchildren Scott (Saundra) Armstrong, Brian (Allison) Armstrong, Jennifer Armstrong, Kristen Roberts, and Brett Roberts; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and her extended family at Riverside Towers. The family would like to thank Drs. Harris, Fort, and Jayaraman and their staff for their compassionate care of Joan. Thank you to Lourdes Hospice for helping the family to carry out Joan's wish to remain at home until the end; we want to extend special thanks and appreciation to Theresa and Jody for their loving care, not only to Joan, but to the family as well. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please take the time to tell those around you that they are loved, spend time with family and friends, or volunteer to help those in need. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lourdes Hospice, or a charity of one's choice in Joan's memory
