Obituary of Robert L. Reid

Robert Reid, 88, of Chenango Forks, passed away on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017, after a short illness. He is predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Rita. He is survived by his three sons, Steven (Marylynn), Russell (Sharon), Phillip (Leda), his loving partner, Ann Mearin, his grandchildren Tom, Ben, Brian, Jonathan, and Rhiannon and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Army prior to moving to Binghamton in1950. He attended Broome Tech, SUNY Binghamton and R.I.T. and devoted his 35 year career to the college, where he retired as Dean of Technologies in 1991. Bob was involved in many professional societies and spent many years active in the accreditation of engineering technology programs across the U.S. He enjoyed volunteering and served on the Chenango Forks school board, the BCC Foundation and at his church. Bob loved spending time with family and friends at the cottage on Keuka Lake in the summers and Florida in the winters. Bob was kind and generous, quick to laugh and always eager to lend a hand. He was known for baking and sharing cookies with his family and many friends. In recent years, his words to live by were, "Every day is a bonus". There will be a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Chenango Bridge at 704 River Road, Chenango Bridge, NY on Saturday April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, followed by refreshments.
