Obituary of Edward M. Sheehan

Edward M. Sheehan Jr, 68 of Raleigh, North Carolina, formally of Binghamton, New York passed away on February 13, 2017 at Mercy House in Endicott, New York, after a 19-month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on May 18, 1948 to the late Edward M. Sheehan Sr. and Julia (Hickey) Sheehan. He was also predeceased by his brother in- laws and sister in-law; Bill Wharton and John and Priscilla Hanrahan. He is survived by his wife Molly (Hanrahan) Sheehan, his sisters and brother; Pat Wharton of Binghamton, NY, Kathy (Ray) Shaheen of Rochester, NY, Eileen (Lorin) Labardee of Tucson, AZ, John (Becky) Sheehan of Palm Springs, CA, Peggy (Bill) Abbott of Binghamton, NY, several sisters and brothers' in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and dear friends. He graduated from Catholic Central High School and Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY. He served in the United States Navy and retired from IBM after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC. Ed's greatest pleasures were ushering for the University of North Carolina, Tar Heels, Basketball team, playing golf and putting a smile on everyone's face he meet with his sense of humor. He was a kind and loving husband, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by everyone. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Yoffe, of Raleigh, NC for his wonderful care and to Mercy House for their compassion and kindness to Ed. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ed may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N.
